Fisheries Agreement WTO

This Fisheries Agreement (“Agreement”) is entered into on this date by and between the parties involved in the trade and regulation of fisheries under the auspices of the World Trade Organization (“WTO”).

Preamble
Whereas the Parties are committed to the sustainable management and conservation of fisheries resources;
Whereas the Parties recognize the importance of trade in fish and fishery products;
Article 1: Definitions
For the purposes of this Agreement:
a. “Fish” means all aquatic organisms of the orders Agnatha, Chondrichthyes, and Osteichthyes, as well as mollusks, crustaceans, and other invertebrates commonly harvested for human consumption or other purposes;
Article 2: Sustainable Fisheries Management
The Parties shall cooperate to ensure the sustainable management and conservation of fisheries resources, including through the implementation of measures to prevent overfishing and to minimize bycatch.
Article 3: Trade Fish Fishery Products
The Parties shall ensure that trade in fish and fishery products is conducted in accordance with the WTO agreements, including the Agreement on Agriculture and the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade.
